From the hands of a hunter and outdoorsman...

Welcome.  I purchased my first handmade knife back in 2005 at a show.  The maker was fairly new at knifemaking and his work was still rough.  There was something about that handmade knife that really interested me and after looking at it for a few minutes, I decided I could make one also.  I soon found other knifemakers in the area that could help me hone my skills and answer any questions I might have.  Their effort as well as much research and practice has helped me to make fine edged, comfortable to use  knives that will hold up to useage and perform the way a knife should.

I am located in the beautiful state of Maine and have been here for nearly 20 years.  The rugged terrain and hard working people provide a great testing ground for my knives.  I am a hunter and fisherman and enjoy the simple things life offers. I enjoy primitive camping and tracking as well as a host of other outdoor activities that bring me closer to nature .  These skills play into the knives I create.

Knifemaking is a hobby of mine and this site will be to show some of my work.  If you are interested in buying a handmade knife, contact me at paul@pmlewisknives.com

For every knifemaker there is another that incouraged and guided them.  While I have learned much from books on the subject, the knifemaker that has kept me motivated is Pete of bigpeteknives.  He is a full time maker and an all around great guy.  If you are going to just buy one knife for all your hunting requirements, buy from him.  He does this for a living and it is a hobby for me.  Thanks Pete!
